13
I had a great birthday this year, and though I am a bit late posting about it, I will now. My friends Anwyn and Charlotte (her blog) came and we celebrated by going downtown and getting sushi from our lovely local sushi store 'Matsu sushi' (This sounds like an advertisement) I think I might have gotten Charlotte hooked on sushi-sorry not sorry. Anyway, these are some pictures of what I got for my birthday and some of what we did (unfortunately I neglected to take any pictures whilst downtown as I am a lazy ass, but I'm sure these will do).
I also got some buttons, sparkly nail polish, a spatula (???why???) and some pretty purdy yellow spotted tights.
The top box thing is my new beautiful tape player from Anwyn and inside is the mixtape her and Charlotte made. |
Me wearing shirt and bow from Charlotte and my new Nikon (gosh it's magnificent) from me, my parents and my grandparents. (Thanks to them for helping me afford it) |
Lovely new tapes (Bottom three from Anwyn, top a combined effort from Anwyn and Charlotte) |
Our leftover sushi. |

A Canada day spectacle
I spent my Canada day at my grandparents' houses in Washago/Orillia, where we saw some
b-e-a-utiful sunsets (pics 1 and 2), and I consumed far too much candy but miraculously didn't die on a sugar overdose or some other dangerous-sounding affliction of that sort. As you can see, the fireworks were spectacular, and it was on a nice balmy night as well... perfect Canada day weather. In the third picture, you can see the sunset and those little squiggly things on the bottom are tiny fireworks across the lake. I did get some swimming in at my Nana's place (she lives by a river) but my swimming suit at that point was very noticeably too small, and I have since gotten a new one that fits much better.
I hope everyone reading this had a good Canada day too (if you currently live in Canada), and I'll probably post something soon.

Strawberry Tarts
My class had an end-of-the-year picnic a few days ago, and I decided to make mini-pies (aka tarts). Here's a how-to on how to make your own strawberry tarts-http://tastykitchen.com/recipes/desserts/mini-strawberry-pies/, and here are some pictures of the process and how mine ended up turning out.

New rats!
I recently got two new baby rats, and since I haven't blogged in a while due to school and the fact that I still don't have a good camera so I have to keep borrowing my mum's, I though I'd show you. Their names are Nico (albino) and Hazel (black). I went with my friend Talia and bought these little girls from PJ's pets. It's ironic that I wanted such fancy rats (dumbo hooded) and I ended up with a white and black pair of normal ones. (Who are very sweet but not particularly interesting-looking appart from the red eyes on Nico and Hazel's white belly.) Anyway, I'll probably make another post soon.

Om Nom Nom Sushi
Hello Friends! I made sushi yesterday, and I am not going to give you a how-to on sushi making but I will say that it is very fun. We did the whole deal, noodles, miso soup, rice on the side and of course the sushi. I went to the superstore to get some ingredients, stopped by at value village (I got some absolutely lovely plaid shirts, I may post them later) and then went home to make it. It was pretty dang tasty.

Catching up on what Happened in September
So yea. We went to a beautiful place called Montreal and stayed with one of my parents' french friends from Vancouver.
Number 4 is at the house we were staying in, it was great! A billion little doodads everywhere, it was so cool just looking at it. Number 5 is while we were walking around in a park near the biodome, number 7 was inside it. The rest of the pictures are just my backyard.
PS. Like my new blog design?
